Vulnerable Spots on the Court
-How to get a Easy Kill(Part 1 Elementary Mind Games)

The volleyball court is as big as a house. 6 men on the court can not cover all the areas. Therefore many holes are created. To exploit these holes to your advantage can really boost your team's spirits. I am not a physical player on my team. Instead, I try to play smart and read what the other player is doing. That alone gets me a spot on the court.

The two best areas I love to hit as well as set the ball to are the two deep corners on the opponent's side. These corners are fragile because the style of perimeter defense stress the middle back to be 28 feet, taking all the long balls, while the back right and back left are playing short. If you shoot a ball to the back right corner when the setter is on defense, unless the other team have good communication, you are going to get a kill or a free ball opportunity. The reason for that is, the setter is mostly positioned on the back right. If the setter see a slow ball coming over, he will brake to the net and get ready to set. But if you shoot the ball fast enough, the middle back will think the back right will pass while the back right think the middle back will pass there fore creating a confusion in defense. Shooting the ball back left is also effective because the defense is expecting a hard driven cross court ball from the outside hitter. If you shoot the ball far enough just to touch the back corner, the defense will have a hard time covering that ball.

To practice these shoots, I placed T-shirts on the corners of the court. At first I tossed the ball high in the air from the middle of the court and try to set the ball so it hits the T-shirts. Once I master that, I practiced shooting the ball from all different angles of the court. I've gotten many kills from these shoots and some how, the defenders always hate me for it.

This is how the play should unfold
